Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might want to know about AIMC

Why does this exist?

We believe that when we help each other, we all grow together. AIMC exists as a space where Indian Muslims in Canada can lean on one another — whether it's finding a job, discovering a trusted business, or just knowing someone nearby has your back.

Why are the founders doing this?

Honestly? To give back. The founders felt there was a need for a space reserved for Indian Muslims due to our special circumstances at this moment in time. Also, we believe we have a God ordained responsibility to give back to the communities we come from, from what Allah has bestowed upon us. You can read the full story on our About Us page.

Does running this cost money?

It does, yes — servers, storage, email delivery, and everything in between. We keep things lean, but there are real costs involved in keeping the lights on.

Who covers those costs?

Right now, our founder Aman covers the costs personally — out of a portion of his Zakat. We're not looking for donations yet, and we're doing just fine for now. When that changes, we'll let the community know.

How can I help?

The best thing you can do right now is spread the word! Tell your Indian Muslim friends and family about AIMC, encourage them to join, and ask them to list their businesses or share job opportunities from their employers. Word of mouth is how communities grow.

How do I know my data isn't being sold?

We get why you'd ask — it's a fair question. The honest answer is: it's not something we want, and frankly, it wouldn't even make financial sense. The cost of running AIMC far exceeds anything we could ever make from selling the limited data we collect.

We also keep things minimal on purpose — no credit card details, no mandatory home address, no date of birth. Just enough to make the community work.

Whatever data we collect, if it has to be displayed publicly, we only surface minimal data (e.g. First name only).

You can control the visibility of your profile picture from profile settings.

We do have analytics and server logs but the data is anonymised.

So we only learn about "what happened", not "who did it" - which is what we need to know what is workgin and what's not. This, too, is kept for a limited time (15-30 days) and then deleted.

And for what it's worth, Big Tech almost certainly has far more information about you than we ever will.
